I came, I saw, I conquered, and I’m baaaaaack! :) and may I say how bloody awesome my whole Autumn Fair experience was. Sheesh, it’s a fortnight I’ll never forget I tell ye.
I mean, the fabulousness of the event itself, the most loveliest people I could meet, the buckets of wisdom imparted on me and feeling an almost overwhelming sense of achievement from having a dream, finding out how I could make it happen and diving in and doing it – all combined to create one helluva life-changing experience.
Sure, ‘life-changing’ may sound a lil’ dramatic to some, but anyone who knows me, knows my comfort zone lies safely behind a shiny Mac, at my desk, designing a website or a mobile app or two. To then remove myself from the comfort of that setting, to pulling together a launch product range worthy of exhibiting, to designing and creating a stand from scratch, to creating a full suite of marketing materials and to then man my stand hans-solo with zero sales experience, was a pretty daunting prospect, I’m not gonna lie! But did I let it phase me? Nope. And did I let it stop me? Hell no! And now I've come away with the most wonderful feedback from some of the biggest retailers in the industry, and I’m back, intact and alive to tell the tale.
Before anything, I absolutely MUST thank the most awesome stand neighbours there ever was, I soooo landed on my feet with my stand’s location! I firstly want to thank Richard and Jane of Hype Associates – exhibitors at the Autumn Fair for over 20 years and an absolute treasure trove of tips, advice and knowledge. You’ll soon regret your extended offer of help now the show is over! ;) ha! I’d also like to thank Claire and Jon Barratt of ClaireaBella – I’m so grateful for your honesty and openness answering all the questions I kept firing at you! What you’ve managed to achieve so far is nothing short of astounding and I’ve got nothing but admiration for you and your relationship. Am already missing your super-glam selfie faces! And lastly I have to thank my Autumn Fair adoptive-father Tom Dickens – another fountain of immense knowledge and 20+ years exhibiting, thank you for having my back, showing such an interest in my work, helping me load up after taking down the stand, and of course minding my stand when I powdered my nose! I’m trying really hard to distract myself from my withdrawal symptoms from you all! ;)
I also had the fortune of meeting some fabulous retailers across the UK and Ireland who will soon be stocking Kerry Lyons products! Woohoo! And not just any old retailers, but again the loveliest retailers I could have had the fortune to meet. I’ll be introducing you to them all in a few short weeks and you’ll be able to meet their loveliness for yourselves.
So the coming weeks will see us busily beavering away, fulfilling orders and getting all our new products up on our website for all you lovelies to buy direct, right in time for Christmas. I’m no longer feeling daunted, but invigorated, motivated and ready for all the challenges that come with this exciting new phase of the business. And it's a new exciting phase that there's no way I'd be able to take without the sheer amazingness of my husband and his unfaltering support. He's poured sooo much time, graft and hours into everything the Kerry Lyons brand is, where the business is now simply wouldn't be there without him xxx So would I do another trade show based on this experience? Abso-feckin-lutely :)
If you're a retailer interested in stocking Kerry Lyons' products, come and see us here, we can't wait to meet you xo
